GA State Defense Force:
When ordered by the Adjutant General, provides an organized, trained, disciplined, rapid response volunteer force to assist state and local government agencies, and civil relief organizations in impending or actual emergencies to assure the welfare and safety of the citizens of Georgia.
2nd Battalion is based out of the National Guard Armory in Marietta, Georgia and has an AO (Area of Operation) covering the greater Atlanta and surrounding Area.
Our Recruits come from the following Counties: Fulton, Paulding, Cobb, DeKalb, Cherokee, Newton, Clayton, Henry, and Rockdale.
Covering the Population centers of: Greater Atlanta, Marietta, Dallas, Kennesaw, Powder Springs, Acworth, Canton, Mableton, Smyrna, Austell, Roswell, and Alpharetta.

2nd Battalion - 1BDE GSDF (GA State Defense
Force) is Based out of Marietta
but
there are other units throughout Georgia.
- 18 - 64 Years Old
- No prior Military Experience required.
- Reasonable Medical Health
- Commit to minimum 1 Saturday drill per Month
- Minimum 1 Year commitment to the community
- Additional GSDF Missions as needed
- Initial Entry Training: 2 weekends (Sat thru Sun) - Required
- One weekend of GSDF Annual Training in November - Required
- GA State Defense Force does not carry weapons
- GA State Defense Force Uniform is the Army Combat uniform (ACU)
- GA State Defense Force is an All-Volunteer unit which also means we supply our own uniform, equipment, and transportation.
